Lockers

Lockers are available to all pupils who wish one.

The cost of a locker is a one off payment of £10 for the duration of a pupil’s stay at the school. An additional payment of £5 is necessary to secure a key. The £5 additional payment will be returned to the pupil when the key is handed in on leaving school.

Keys should be returned at the end of the summer term and will be handed back at the beginning of each new term. No money will change hands in this particular transaction.

The Parent Council has reaffirmed that the cost of rental is reasonable. Compared to other schools in the Authority - some of whom charge in excess of £10 on an annual basis - the Council felt that the cost is appropriate and represents good value. It will also serve to reinforce with pupils a message that they need to value their locker in a manner that providing one free of charge might not.

The school has not graded the charge according to the year group pupils are in based on the reasonableness of the single payment. However, given that current summer leavers will not know the benefits of a locker for a full academic year, for this year only, the £10 rental will be refundable, along with the £5 key deposit, on handing in the locker key.

Secondly, the income raised will all go directly to funding pupil-related facilities. For the foreseeable future, any income raised will be directed towards funding minibuses for the school, a facility we have an acute need of.

Thirdly, on the question of insurance, items placed in a locker will be subject to the same Falkirk Authority protocols as any other personal equipment in any other part of the school.
