Denny High School, serves an area of 25 square miles. It has 7 associated Primary Schools drawing pupils from Denny, Dunipace, Dennyloanhead, Bonnybridge, Allandale, Longcroft, Haggs and Baanknock.
All education providers in the area, together with relevant outside agencies, form the Denny Locality team.
Denny High School is a non-denominational, comprehensive school. Its roll in August 2007 was 1316 pupils in mainstream and 15 in Northfield, a facility located in Denny High School for pupils from the Falkirk Council area with severe specific learning difficulties. A total of 94.6 teachers (F.T.E.) were then in post.
Following 'McCrone' restructuring in August 2004, the Senior Management Team comprises the Rector, 4 Depute Rectors and 1 Resource Manager (who also has responsibilities for other schools within the Denny cluster). There are 12 Principal Teachers with responsibilities for both curricular and pastoral management. A further Principal Teacher is responsible for managing the Learning Support Department which comprises 6.5 F.T.E. staff for mainstream support, pupils who have Records of Need and Northfield. A Behaviour Support Project with 2 full-time members of teaching staff opened in August 2000. The Library and Resource Centre, staffed by a Chartered Librarian and Library Assistant, supports the work of the school staff.
The school's work is further facilitated by 6 office staff, 4 technicians, 2 janitors, 7 school helpers, 11 supervisory assistants and a school nurse.
As part of Falkirk Council's Schools' Replacement Project, Denny High School re-located to a brand new - purpose build facility at Herbertshire Park in February of 2009.
All staff in Denny High School are expected to promote the aims and values of the school. Our main aim is to provide an excellent education in a safe, caring and happy environment for all our students so that they are prepared to take their place in the wider society as responsible citizens.
Pupils' and parents' views are actively sought on a wide range of issues. The Denny High School Board is an active body which works closely with the Rector to achieve the aims of the school. The school's Parent Teacher Association provides sterling support for the school through a range of social events and the allocation of additional finance. Parents (Consultation) Evenings are arranged for all year groups and, in addition, there are Parents (Information) Evenings at important interfaces (P7-S1), (S2-S3) and (S4-S5). Like school productions, concerts etc. these evenings are well supported by parents.
